Traditionally, sulfur is used to fumigate, preserve, and whiten many Chinese
herbs. With increasing yields and more warehousing, chlorine and aluminum
phosphates are being used to even further prolong storage. Questions have been
raised about the effects of these substances on the nature and functions of
the herbs and on the health of the consumer. These concerns have compelled us
to make our herbs as clean as possible. Our packages of unsulfured, chlorine
and aluminum phosphates free herbs are the culmination of years of concerted
effort by many dedicated research professionals.
In 1996 we built Mayway Anguo, our own herb processing facility in Anguo,
China a major herbal processing hub. Herbs arrive fresh or unprocessed, and
each batch is identified and tested for sulfites, certain pesticides residues
and heavy metals. Herbs that pass our stringent quality control standards are
cleaned, processed and put through our vacuum and nitrogen packaging system
which preserves them naturally. The finished herbs are inspected, tested for
microbials and finally made available to you.
Plum Flower Brand herbs taste and smell as they naturally should. Without
sulfur to whiten the herbs, their colors generally appear darker then the
average commercial stock.
Thank you for choosing Plum Flower Brand herbs.
